ABOUT PPWR

What is the PPWR?

The new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is the EU regulation on packaging that will be binding on all
member states in the future. Its goal: to reduce packaging waste, promote recycling, and close the loop.

Once the regulation takes effect, only packaging that meets the following criteria may be placed on the market in the EU:

are recyclable,

be clearly labeled,

and demonstrably contribute to the circular economy.

With this measure, the EU aims to reduce the amount of packaging waste by 15% by 2040—an ambitious but important goal.

UPA PACK is PPWR-ready

At UPA PACK, we firmly believe that sustainable packaging doesn’t just start with new laws. For years, we’ve been using materials and processes that are fully recyclable—without compromising on strength or functionality.

Our products are made of high-density solid board, a single-material product made entirely from recycled paper.

Our products are made of high-density solid board, a single-material product made entirely from recycled paper.

This means that all of our products can be easily recycled.

Part of the solution—not part of the problem

Solid cardboard packaging plays an important role in conserving resources.

reliably protect goods from damage during transport,

reduce material consumption compared to alternatives,

are made from renewable raw materials,

and can be reused multiple times.

This means that UPA PACK’s cardboard tubes, corner protectors, and interlayers are not part of the packaging problem—but part of the solution.
Efficient shipping packaging prevents damage, returns, and CO₂-intensive reshipments.
In short: Choosing sustainable shipping protection saves resources across the board.
